Pillows, bedding and BEDS impact sleep quality

Updated: Apr 11, 2019

Mattresses, pillows and bedding have very significant effects on sleep quality!

Sleep better with the right bed set up...

Pillows, bedding and BEDS have a lot to do with achieving optimal sleep. Please do seek advice from a bedding store expert; there are so many types of mattresses, bedding, pillows (and even pillow cases with cooling gel) available to help us sleep better.

Mattresses...

Your mattress especially has a very significant effect on your sleep quality. Just as we strive for good daytime posture, we also need good posture while we sleep. Good sleep posture promotes better breathing and better sleep. After all, we spend about one third of our lives in bed! If you live to be 75, that's 25 years sleeping!

Please do see a mattress expert to help you understand your specific needs and choices.

Bed Risers....

If you have been diagnosed with Acid Reflux (GERD) your physician may recommend raising the head of your bed to an angle of 30 degrees.

If so, Bed Risers can be purchased from Home Health/Medical Supply stores.

Pillows...

It is so very important to find a pillow that is comfortable and safe for your specific needs. You may need to see your health care practitioner before pillow shopping.

Look for a pillow that helps keep your chin away from your chest and also prevents your chin from aiming straight up at the ceiling.

While the colour of a pillow case may be considered a luxury option, the pillow itself is fundamental to our sleep posture and deserves much consideration.

Bedding...

Just as we have our favourite pyjamas with soft, warm or cool fabric, we enhance our potential sleep quality by considering the bedding that suits our unique needs and preferences.

Hypoallergenic bedding, organic cotton, cool linens, warm flannel...consider what makes you most comfortable.

Even the way we launder our bedding is helpful in promoting better sleep!
